Hi! I’m writing a feature for Quartz on how the digital nomad era is winding down. After years of borderless work and “work from anywhere” policies, governments and companies alike appear to be tightening the rules, from visa rollbacks to RTO mandates.
I’m looking to speak with:
• Former or current digital nomads who’ve had to change plans due to visa issues, tax complications, or company RTO requirements
• Experts in global talent mobility, remote work, or labor economics who can explain the larger forces at play (whether shifting tax regimes or corporate policy changes, etc)
• HR leaders or relocation consultants who’ve noticed declining flexibility or cross-border hiring slowdowns
To give you a sense of the questions I’ll be exploring, here’s a taste:
• What’s driving governments and companies to clamp down on cross-border remote work?
• Which countries or sectors are seeing the sharpest reversals of the digital-nomad trend?
• How are workers adapting (are they relocating, going freelance, or giving up on location independence altogether, etc)?
Thanks!
