I'm doing a story on Texas' courts requiring attorneys to disclose the use of AI in any court documents they prepare and file with the court. In particular, I'm looking for attorneys who have done this and want to talk about best practices of using AI in preparing court documents. Background: Courts in the US are starting to regulate lawyers' use of generative AI for drafting legal documents. Some jurisdictions now require disclosure and human review due to instances of fake citations from AI, while others only warn about potential issues without mandating disclosure. Federal courts in Texas now require attorneys to disclose their use of AI in filings. In 2023, Judge Brantley Starr ordered lawyers to certify either no generative AI was used or that any AI-generated content was verified. Filing without this certificate risks being struck, and attorneys remain accountable under Rule 11 for all content.
